Examine your roof: – It’s always said that prevention is better than cure. So it’s good to examine your roof before winters. This can be done by oneself, but for a good and safe check, this should be given to professionals.
Check for Insulation Gaps: – Always have a proper check of insulation gaps on the roof otherwise your home remains chill even after best heating equipment’s is used. You can have proper insulation of fibreglass or blown-foam etc in your attic. Chimneys, windows or vents are generally weak areas of insulation so have a good check nearby these areas.
Properly remove ice dam: – An ice dam is a ridge of ice that forms at the edge of a roof and prevents melting snow (water) from draining off the roof. It occurs when heat from a house escapes the attic and warms the roof. Snow on the roof melts and then refreezes, it forms a ridge of ice and trap water on the roof. This water can leak through ceilings and cause further damage issues. So, it is suggested to properly remove ice dam after each snowfall.
